The last book I read (listened to) was Hans Rosling biography about how he got to understand the world.

He founded the organisation GapMinder with his daughter and son and this is worth to take a look in the tools-part of the website, even if you think your perception of the world i right. New facts come every day and I got astonished myself by the lack of actuality my knowledges about the world had.
