The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Arrived at home during the second night of january (well, how do you count: does january begin with a short night or with a long day?), we were welcomed by a storm in Sweden. Quite difficult landing but we (the pilots) managed. Yesterday was a slow day. We woke up at noon, put some order in the flat and Z was rediscovering it by herself.

When the evening arrived, we wanted to watch something easy for our head, not too dark, not too idiotical either. Our choice landed on “the ballad of Buster Scruggs” and it was a good choice! 6 short films in one, short western stories showing ups and downs in what the life at the beginning of USA was supposed to be. We liked it very much, so run to your Netflix and watch it!

Broken dream or an occasion to start over?

We are actually taking a break from our normal life by visiting my parents for Xmas in France. This is good to cut the normal routine, even if our soon to be two years old is very challenging exactly because of that… Rules you know are not made to be broken when you have a little brain forming itself, at least not for the peace of the parents.

Anyway, we’ll survive!

This automne has been very challenging for me at work on a special level. Many times, I thought I would give up but somehow, I grew stronger from it. I never really found any point in learning from mistakes. I always thought (and do it even more now) that it’s a mental way to find some “good excuse” to survive the challenge we have to face right now. To be honest, I would rather have read a good book about what happened to me than go through it myself as I did. Anyhow, I took advantage of unexpected occasion to take a new path. Not radically new, but though, a little. By it, I don’t need to have any wishes for 2019. So no promise to break either hihi

Grey and focus

This period of the year in Sweden is like you feel that the world will go down, every day.

It’s grey, rainy and the light period during the day is short. Two weeks to the coming vacation and every cell in my body want it. We have been sick on and off (always one of us 3) and the every day Life is challenging.

But! Better to focus on the little well defined goals that I decided before I wanted to work toward. Just focus.

Evolve or you will disappear

Life happens. All the time. Both funny, interesting and even hard. Somehow, when I become older, I get also more negative for changes and things that put my plans upside down. But I got this reminder this morning when I left Z at school. This dinosaur was freezing its ass outside by minus 7 degrees Celsius and for real, he would have disappear if it wasn’t because it was a plastic toy. I have to evolve, every day, in order to get more efficient and keep my laughs. Negativity kills everything good and changes actually make it different and funnier if you see the challenges and grow from them.

Wednesday at home with Z

I’m enjoying the last days of parental leave, which come once a week, in the middle of a hectic job. We had to defreeze our freezer (I thought new ones did not need it but yes…) So I’ve been pretty creative on the food area recently to use everything we had in the freezer. The least obvious things were the fruits. I’ve been making marmelade a couple of evenings this week and actually, I’m happy: we got a lot now to enjoy on the Saturday and Sunday breakfasts!

Find the red line in your life

Oh, when stress comes upp, I need to sort out what’s important. My red line. Actually, I have several: my family and how I hang out with myself. I need to get my brain in motion in creativity in order to keep my soul clean.

I took time some years ago to sort out what it exactly was. Regularly, I look at my list and try to see if I’m true to myself. It’s easier to find my right way again when I’m in a storm of things .

Grow baby oak

I finally found the time to plant the baby oak we’ve been nursing the past weeks. Everyday life is sometimes overwhelming and in a way, I’m glad of it. And it’s because it’s only much of what I want to do. I’m getting sort of an improvement at my work so I need to put some time outside from work to better myself and it’s a big enrichment. I am in a painting-chair-project (which involves the whole family when you live in an apartment), we just came back from a travel in France and we just had my sister and family at our place for the weekend. You see, life is full of energy!

The trick is to be present in each phase and don’t think if the coming while being in another one. Then, you’ll miss the present one and increase your stress. I let my life grow like my little oak: patiently and full of improvements!

Create your own wings

Z has a Halloween party at school on Wednesday so I needed to think if something for her to wear. I created these bird suit, only from rests of fabric I had at home and it fits her exactly.

I’m not sure she understands this mascarade thing but she may be able to play with her wings later.

Give your day a good start

I noticed that the way I start my day conditions a lot the rest of this same day. Nowadays, I use to listen to french radio for the news and then music. When it’s my turn to take Z at school, I try to make her laugh as much as I can. Not always easy, but it gaves her a chance to see the day in a positive way.
