After a whole day wondering how wet i would be the evening, we drove to Västervik, a little city on the east coast of Sweden to listen to some nice music from the Visfestival. The mood in the city was calm but happy and we took place in the ruin of the old castle with some thousend other people to listen to visor.
Visor is a musical genre that i couldn’t define, it is like poems that are sungen with simple melodies and from what i noticed yesterday, the words are really important to listen to, sometimes, we even had to wash our ears after the song. This is typical swedish to sing nasty things with nice words and melodies, hopping that nobody notices what is actually sungen.
First we had the opportunity to listen to a band from the Visskola, like there is a school in Västervik to learn to sing/create this kind of song. This is a little strange for me to go to school and learn art, like you got a diplom and then you are an artist? To be an artist to me is something you are born to, not something you are teached to be. Well. They were ok to listen.
Then came the beautiful Jenny Almsenius and her humor and voice made the moment very good!
Halleluja! Vad skönt det känns
I also liked very much Tåglåten, remembering me the times i travelled to meet someone i liked very much. Oh how many expectations i was carrying with my butterflies…
After Jenny, it was time for Jeja Sundström and Stefan Demert to go on stage. They were also very funny to listen to, quite a lot of nasty things they sang but humor was perfectly fitting in the mood.
Mats Klingström went on stage after them and it was not really my cup of tea. Too slow maybe after the laughs.
Finn Zetterholm and Bengt Sändh took the place with laughs and good melodies and i enjoid these 2 parts a lot.
Starköl byggde denna kropp and Polisens firmafest were really 2 nice moments!
After that came a new band, with Sanna Carlstedt on vocals. Nice too, a lots of energy on stage and of course, nasty texts.
As last artist came Jack Vreeswiijk, son to a famous vissinger. He made the full moon shine brighter. Nice voice and the atmosphere was really impossible to describe. Above all when he sang Somliga går i trasiga skor.
The night was wonderfull. Even if i missed the end of the last part, i am very pleased with what i heard. Thank you J and S for the compagny!
It was a long drive home then, and i met a lots of animals along the way. Listened to bad music (radio at night is not the best DJ… ) and arrived home late in the night. After a good night call, i felt asleep and slept a loooong night, even if i had nightmares.
Today, it was time for luxe breakfast and i swear, i will do NOTHING today on my first day of vacation. I will only try to read some books and maybe drink a beer while watching the footbal game Sweden-France, but only if it is possible to watch it somewhere on the inet.
You already had some songs above to listen, so it may be enough for the song of the day. Enjoy your week end!
