The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States. It was built between 1792 and 1800 in the late Georgian style.
Today, the White House Complex includes the Exicutive Residence (in which the First Family resides), the West Wing (the location of the Oval Office, Cabinet room and Roosevelt Room), and the East Wing (the location of the office of the First Lady and White House Social Secretary), as well as the Old executive Office Building, which houses the executive offices of the President and Vice President.
In 2007, it was ranked second on the Ameican Insitute of Architects’s List of America’s Favorite Architecture.

Obelix et Asterix , well OK, Washington Monument in fact. It is a United States Presidential Memorial constructed to commemorate the first U.S. president, George Washington. The monument, made ofmarble, granit and sandstone, is both the world’s tallest stone structure and the world’s tallest obelisk, standing 555 feet 5.5 inches (169.3 m) in height. The actual construction of the monument began in 1848 but was not completed until 1884, almost 30 years after the architect’s death. It officially opened October 9, 1888. The Washington Monument reflection can be seen in the aptly named Reflecting Pool, a rectangular pool extending to the west toward the Lincoln Memorial.
